- Delineate the critical thinking needed to update the treatment plan on an ongoing basis as the patient’s condition changes.
- Determine what the consequences of contractures are in the elderly.
- Identify the risk factors associated with contractures in the elderly.
- Describe the pathophysiology of contracture development and the principal rehabilitation strategies for reducing contractures in the elderly.
- Correctly select and administer the most common tools for spasticity assessment and treatment.
- Select, fit and modify appropriate orthotics.
- List the contraindications, warnings and precautions for orthotic management and modality usage for contracture management in the elderly.
- Explain proper communication and role of nursing staff during contracture management.
- Summarize the common modalities/treatment techniques for treating contractures.
- Correctly bill and document for reimbursement of services provided.
